Kitchen Remodel | Demo Day

Good morning everyone and Happy Friday!

How have you all been lately? My husband an I have been very busy this past week and weekend. We have finally begun the process of remodeling our kitchen. I am so excited.

For today’s post, I wanted to share with you the progress we have made so far. This past weekend my husband, and I helped a little, demoed our entire kitchen. It really was not that difficult of a project to do and my husband really did the majority of it himself.

We started removing the upper cabinets first. That was the more easier part of the entire process. If you are planning on doing this yourself, keep in mind that the cabinets are not only screwed into the wall of the kitchen but to each other as well.

We had a bit of a learning curve when it came time to remove the granite countertops. But after the first one was removed, they came off easy. We found that using a chisel and hammer was the best way to break the seal between sections of the granite. My husband did have to reach out to a neighbor to help lift two of the large pieces of granite.

We donated our cabinets to a neighbor that wanted to use them for a project they had in mind. No one wanted our countertops, but the company we were using to install our new countertops said they would take and dispose of the old ones so that worked out great for us.  and since no one wanted our countertops, the company that was putting in our new ones is going to take them away when they come out to install our new countertops.

I look forward to sharing more with you as our project progresses!
